I'm overjoyed to simply be able to "speak"... (literal & figurative)

Grateful for seeing a "new" year and reflect upon the lessons & blessings of the previous

Being able to have tangible proof of well earned accomplishments along this journey of Life-

(ie: nearing completion of 2 out of 4 college programs & awaiting graduation '12; 1st official book published; confirmed speaking engagements in new environments/circles; going 'unEmployed' for nearly 2yrs to now balancing two jobs)

Most of all I'm humbled by GODs grace that allowed me to be 'present' (mentally, emotionally,spiritually) and given another chance through precious mercy to Passionately Pursue Purpose yet another day. I've learned that  I have a Faith which is able to sustain me & that I have been Renwed-Restored-Refocused & REDEEMED... in the words of my BFF, I've discovered that I'm "built for This!"

I'm glad to report that I have a blog that was just an idea about a week ago and now it's in full swing. I watch the new show The Chew religiously. It's a show on cooking and entertaining. So I've been blogging about it daily and trying out some of the dishes. I needed an aveune to reactivate my cooking, which I love but have struggled to find time and energy since my baby was born. So After The Chew my blog was born. www.afterthechew.blogspot.com

I launched this blog a week ago. I now have more than 800 page views just since Wednesday when I started promoting it AND the main co-host on the show, Clinton Kelly, gave me a personal shout out on his public Facebook page, he has 80,000 fans. So I'm amazed, just amazed. Hard work and commitment and going with your passion pay off.

In the wake of SistaStrong being 1 month old on November 1st, I reminiscing on this being only a vision or something that was written on paper, packed away in a memorabilia box. Something I didnt know could happen again. I'm so grateful that SistaStrong is thriving. We have some fabulous Sistas who are a part of this vision. That's not just words or hype but there are beautiful women here, inside and out, who have graced this site and network with their presence, their words, their light. I thank God for ya'll, for real. Amazing things are going to happen!

I recently completed my undergraduate studies at Regis University where I earned my B.A. In Communication and an academic certificate in Conflict Management!

I'm giving God praise for an awesome week and it's only Tuesday!!  Look how He's blessed me:

(1)Yesterday I signed a lease for my new place. During the walkthru I discovered amenities I didn't even notice during my initial visit, which I love and appreciate. When I moved to North Carolina I said the type of place I wanted to have and what I wanted in it, and I tell you it's to the letter. The power of the tongue to create your reality always amazes me. Speak life!!!

(2)I received word that I was granted an interview with one of my favorite artist (I hope I can get his new book).

(3) Two publicists who work for Simon & Schuster sought me out for media attention for their authors.

(4) I was invited to interview for an open position in the dept I'm currently temping in.  I

(5) I've been wanting to have an event in LA , but put it off because I don't have contacts there & it would be bigger than what I've been doing. The last 5 people who have friended me on facebook, youtube, twitter are from LA.  Someone I interviewed last month invited me to come out and that person does marketing there. One of the mags I write for is based there and the owner said whenever I'm ready he's down to work with me.

(6) I reconnected with a friend from 5th grade I haven't spoken to in years & we are talking daily & I'm so thankful God brought her back in my life cuz she's a true friend..knows all about me & loves me anyway. :)

(7) I was praying for someone and God said, stop fighting the feeling. I've been working on coming out of the shell romantically because heartbreak makes you gun shy.  But this is the type of guy who could make me totally give up my single status..not because of how he looks, what he does or what he has; but because of who he is in Christ. Of all the wonderful things about him, I am completely enamored by his heart for God and his transparency, which is something i'm not used to from my past expereinces. The more I pray for him (general stuff for his protection, direction, correction & focus on his purpose), the more God is working on me. You just gotta love it. I believe love is friendship set on fire, so I'm putting it in His hands. As I tell my Mama & I told my aunt today, I'm waiting on God for the next one because Lord knows I've been choosing wrong for quite some time now lol. Funny thing is they both said the same thing...it's coming because He's getting you ready.. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm

I am just so humbled and thankful for the favor God has shown me. I just pray I die a little daily so I live for Him totally. I'm not perfect, but I'm not who I used to be and I'm perfected by His love. To God be the glory!!

Congratulations Kathy!! Post the link so I can tune in and we as your SistaStrong family can support you. @Michelle Yes!!! That's what I'm talking about. I spent 10 years in corporate as a banker and I remember a similiar situiation where I was given a bad review I felt was unfair and flat out wrong because I took over a job for someone who quit and it was tied to my compensation(bonus & raise) . I refused to sign the review and a mediator was brought in who heard both sides and ruled in my favor. Too often people make you feel like you have no choice but to take what they offer and like it!!!  I'm so glad you realized your worth and the valuable contribution you make to the company and stood up for yourself. You not only received what you were asking for, but you also gained respect. I learned a valauble lesson that day...never allow someone to treat you like you're less than you're worth personally or professinally.

One a different note real quick, there are a couple of postings from Sistas for this page that we're having tech issues in getting posted, will have that corrected soon. It's dark:30 now, so a lil later for that, when normal people are awake will be a good time, lol.

Ok.. Huge milestone moment for me...  I decided that the compensation structure I was being offered by my business partner was less than what I felt my service and 10 years expertise in the mortgage industry was worth.  Instead of just sitting back frustrated and feeling like I had to just "take what I could get", I decided to set up a meeting to renegotiate the terms of my contract to match what I felt I was worth ( a percentage of the net profits as oppose to the flat fee he wanted to give me) and basically gave him the opportunity to take it or leave it... and he took it!  That was a pivitol moment for me and taught me that I teach people how to treat me and I determine my worth.. no one else does.
